In aid of William Barnes Society and St Peter's Church, Dorchester 

By popular demand the Victorian Fayre is back for a third year with Music Song and Poetry. Featuring musician John Blackmore performing  songs from his forthcoming album.

A very warm welcome awaits you. Step back in time and experience the delights of a Victorian Fayre. A family event with traditional crafts and rural skills.

A variety of rural craft demonstrations and talks  including: hurdle making, pimp making, net making, bobbin lace making.

Wonderful array of craft stalls:  Victorian Jewellery, Victorian Handmade wooden toys. and a fantastic display of Dorset Bonnets.
Why not try your hand at making: corn dollies, Dorset buttons and net making.

There will be a Children's corner with activities to amuse all including guessing games,  pin the bustle on Queen Victoria, wood cuts and printing, silhouette craft, drawing, and quiz.

Plus,of course, Raffle prices and Tombola.

Mouth watering refreshments to suit all tastes: Pigs in blankets, Ploughman's lunch, rustic scones with various jams, Victorian sponges and delicious cakes to name but a few.

What’s the point of William Barnes in 21st Century? For the many years of the dominance of Received Pronunciation (RP) it was easy to see William Barnes as an irrelevant eccentric. With more recent developments in linguistics, and a growing interest in national and regional diversity, it may be time for Barnes to reclaim his place as a significant figure in the world!! Service of Remembrance to William Barnes On Sunday 8h October 2017 10:30am, at St Peter’s Church, Dorchester, the Morning Service to commemorate the anniversary of the death of William Barnes took place. It was followed by a wreath laying at the statute. Monday 9th October 2017
